Academic Contests

Academic contests are an excellent opportunity for parents to visit the school and talk with their children's teachers. Contests are held once per semester - usually on a Saturday morning - giving both mothers and fathers the chance to see their child in his or her classroom environment. For one to one and one-half hours, homeroom teachers challenge the students to recall what they've learned in various subjects by using different activities and group formats as an enjoyable way to review.
Teachers understand that students all learn through different and multiple intelligences. They draw upon this and encourage each student's unique abilities. Students are given opportunities to showcase their academic knowledge and skills and are also encouraged in their social growth through cooperation with and support for each other.
Please check back for the dates of the next Academic Contest. You are most welcome to come and observe and then talk with your child's teacher afterward. We look forward to seeing you!

Field Trips

Students go on field trips at least once per semester. Trips are arranged to enable children to learn to observe, to enjoy and share in new experiences with friends and to learn to become more independent. Children visit zoos, parks, museums and a variety of other educational sites.
